RECOMMENDED LISTENINGS: PART FOUR

More musical shit that you should be listening to!

---

~ The Avalanches, Since I Left You
DESCRIPTION - Aussie remixes of old soul songs from the 70's that have been heavily funkified, with some added movie quotes as well.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Since I Left You" ; "Avalanche Rock" ; "Tonight" ; "Frontier Psychiatrist"

~ The Black Eyed Peas, Monkey Business
DESCRIPTION - Semi-ghetto, semi-white, all mainstream hip-hop funkiness. Has somewhat of a Wyclef Jean vibe in some of their songs.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Pump It" ; "Don't Phunk With My Heart" ; "My Style" ; "Gone Going"

~ Broken Social Scene, Feel Good Lost
DESCRIPTION - Nonlyrical ambiant vibes. Good for relaxation. Or car rides. Or whatever.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "I Slept At The Bonnhomme At CBC" ; "Feel Good Lost" ; "Cranley's Gonna Make It"

~ Daft Punk, Discovery
DESCRIPTION - Crazy techno goodness. Better than their first and latest album. Music that just screams "RAVE."
STANDOUT TRACKS - "One More Time" ; "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" ; "Crecendolls"

~ The Decemberists, Picaresque
DEFINITION - That album I won't shut the fuck up about because it's so good. Folksy indie rock, ranging from Spanish ballads, to French prostitution tunes, to sea shanties.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "The Infanta" ; "We Both Go Down Together" ; "The Engine Driver" ; "On The Bus Mall" ; "The Mariner's Revenge Song"

~ Franz Ferdinand, You Could Have It So Much Better
DEFINITION - ... It's Franz Ferdinand. Indie rock at it's finest.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Do You Want To?" ; "Well That Was Easy" ; "Fallen"

~ The Futureheads, The Futureheads
DEFINITION - Interesting indie band with absolutely delicious four-part harmonies. And the most addictive lyrics ever.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Le Garage" ; "Decent Days And Nights" ; "Hounds Of Love" ; "Man Ray"

~ Iron & Wine, Woman King
DEFINITION - Folksy, chilly, relaxing music.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Jezebel" ; "Grey Stables"

~ The New Pornographers, Twin Cinema
DEFINITION - Indie rock... hm. It's generic, but it sounds good. And the drums kick arse in some of the songs.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Twin Cinema" ; "Jackie, Dressed In Cobras" ; "Use It" ; "Streets Of Fire"

~ Modest Mouse, Building Something Out Of Nothing
DEFINITION - I'll try to make this the last Modest Mouse album. I swear. Kinda rednecky, kinda indie rock, lotsa guitar twangy and random yelling.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Neverending Math Equation" ; "Interstate 8" ; "Other People's Lives"

~ My Chemical Romance, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
DEFINITION - Emo/Punk rock!
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Helena" ; "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" ; "Thank You For The Venom"

~ Sufjan Stevens, Illinois
DEFINITION - Sort of folksy rock like Iron & Wine, but somewhat more emo, and somewhat more heavy. And more variation. And wierd titled songs.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "John Wayne Gacy Jr." ; "Jacksonville" ; "Chicago" ; "They Are Night Zombies! They Are Neighbors! They Have Come Back From The Dead! Aaaah!!"

~ The White Stripes, Get Behind Me, Satan
DEFINITION - A totally bitchin' album for being recorded in, what, two weeks I think it was? Much variety.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Blue Orchid" ; "My Doorbell" ; "Little Ghost"

~ The Zutons, Who Killed The Zutons?
DEFINITION - Funky jazz-rock. Like Shining, but less scary.
STANDOUT TRACKS - "Pressure Point" ; "You Will, You Won't" ; "Zuton Fever"

I'm that nice black dude who is friends with everyone, who dresses in Roca Wear and Nike, yet lives in the richest-assed neighborhood ever, that listens to things varying from Coltrane to Modest Mouse to DJ Taka, and who is both emo and cheerful at the same time. In short, I'm just plain crazy.
